Still single six days later

If you go back to this entry, you’ll see that there’s a picture of a gold heart on the cover of the book. If you’re at all curious about what the heart says, it says that all readers of the book get a free seven day trial with, a dating site. The author of the book actually met her husband on during a seven day trial so it can happen.

Sadly it didn’t happen for me: my seven days would have been up tomorrow but cheap (let’s say thrifty) Naija woman that I am, I didn’t want to risk my credit card being charged so I canceled one day early. But don’t despair, I actually did meet someone!

A woman! And no, she isn’t a lesbian (nor am I) but she messaged me because she was happy to see a fellow Nigerian on the site with a similar background to hers and what appears to be a good head on her shoulders (I am good at fooling people, what can I say?). We’ve exchanged a few emails about our lives and how hard finding a good (Naija) man is and now we can share tips and tricks with each on finding our elusive mate. I look forward to talking to her more because she seems really cool. I think she’ll be snapped up by some smart man soon enough so I better enjoy the friendship while I can. is a great site though. Although my profile is currently deactivated, I’d definitely consider joining again in the future.

Moving on, I spoke with a former crush this evening: I had met him on a Nigerian forum and we seemed to click but then I found out he was lying about his age online (though not to me) and we weren’t as compatible as we both once thought we were so things sort of fizzled (this story is so short it doesn’t get featured as a Friday feature). I was surprised that he had married less than a year later, and was a father a few months after that (the baby is seriously cute!) and I once again got to experience that emotion where you’re happy for them (really and truly happy because even though they weren’t right for you, you want the best for them) and then sad for myself because it seems everyone else in the world has no trouble meeting someone.

For some reason I thought this guy only liked slim women, but looking at his wife’s picture I see that I was wrong. It gives me hope that when it’s love, size won’t matter as much as I think it will/does. Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m going to continue to let myself go: I have a lot of work to do because my goal is to have a sexy body that I am proud of. The details of how I’m going to reach this goal will be forthcoming.

  1. *sigh* How many times do I have to tell you that size seriously doesn’t matter. You’re pretty, intelligent, and have a great personality, and that’s all that really matters. And is awesome…I did the same thing you did. I had a free trial and I canceled it before I was billed. You should definitely join it again though because 6 days really isn’t enough to meet ‘the one’

  2. 2 moi
